Pastor's Pen - February 2018

Hello friends, February is upon us.

In January we had new members’ classes, a leadership retreat, rearranged the sanctuary, installed new officers, reorganized our church committees and talked about our upcoming Mission Study.

Our mission study will begin formally in April and will continue through April, May and June. This will be a time when we meet in small groups to talk and dream about the mission of the church and what we want for the future.

This month, in February, I will be conducting a new Bible study on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm using the Presbyterian Covenant Bible Study series.

In the Covenant Series there are three - 8 – episode segments each exploring a different aspect of Covenant life. Each segment will examine what Covenant means, and the progression of a Covenant relationship with God.

The “Creating” segment examines how the covenant community is created and established.

The “Living” segment focuses on how our community of faith lives out this Covenant in faithful love and how it is applied to actual relationships in everyday life.

The “Trusting” segment looks at the crises that sometimes call Covenant life into question, and how we are restored to trust in God when troubling things happen.

Covenant represents a relationship – a living, breathing conversation. And we invite you to join in the dialogues.

Also on February 4, 2018, we will have The Reverend Dori Hjalmarson, who is a mission co-worker in Honduras, speak about her work there. I will preach the sermon but Dori will talk about doing ministry in a location of unrest. Please join us for this powerful presentation from one of God’s faithful servants.
