A Debate and Blessing of the Animals Tradition Returns

October 1st and 2nd was a Noah’s Ark at Rockville Presbyterian Fellowship. Friday featured a debate with the national award winning Solano Community College Debate Team on the topic, “Do All Pets Go to Heaven?”

The debate was a flip of the coin debate where the debaters did not know which side they would take before the debate. The Solano CC debaters were Zachery Waters taking the negative side and Aleea Carrasco taking the affirmative. The pair was coached by Dr. Douglas Mungin Professor of Communication at Solano.

After a spirited debate, the audience decided the winner and that pets do go to heaven. A Zoom audience included Layna Kinsman Zooming in from Washington State.

Saturday October 2nd celebrated The Blessing of the Animals where over 30 animals and their owners were given a blessing from Pastor Sam and wife Barbara. The event featured numerous dogs and cats as well at Kris Herman’s and Bonnie Jones’ horse Frankie. Kona Ice served free Hawaiian Shaved Ice including flavors such as Tiger’s Blood. No tigers were killed in making the ice cone.
